Most people over the age of 30 are looking for ways to keep their skin from aging. The anti aging market is booming with consumers looking for ways to slow down the aging process. Our diets and our skin care regimes play a huge role in the progression of our skin’s aging. But, is there such a thing as anti-aging supplements for the skin? Research tells us, yes, there are supplements that have a direct impact on our skin. If taking care of your skin is a priority, then adding an anti aging supplement to your daily routine might be something worth considering.

Benefits of Anti Aging Supplements For The Skin

The ingredients in anti aging supplements may include just a single nutrient, or a combination of vitamins, fats, minerals, and plant extracts.

Fish oil has omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA which supports collagen production. So, taking a fish oil supplement can be extremely beneficial. Our skin starts to lose collagen production after age 25. Therefore; anyone over the age of 25 should consider products or supplements that boost collagen production.

Collagen is considered one of the primary structural components of our skin. Collagen loss is believed to be one of the direct causes of wrinkles. Therefore; replacing collagen is critical to help fight signs of aging.

We all know that lotions and serums help our skin to stay young, but vitamin supplements can play a huge role in keeping our skin looking its best.

Skin care expert Georgiana Donadio, PhD, DC, MSc, says “Our skin is the fingerprint of what is going on inside our body, and all skin conditions are manifestations of our body’s internal needs, including nutritional needs.”

Research shows antioxidants play a big role in keeping our skin young and healthy. Studies show that Vitamin C and E counter the effects of sun exposure. Check out our picks for Vitamin C serums.

Vitamin C and E help reduce the damage caused by free radicals. The American Academy of Dermatology say these 2 vitamins can be highly protective against sun damage; one of the major causes of aging skin.

However, I was taking fish oil capsules a kid, I should probably start taking them again. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I am glad to hear this. I take Vitamin E, Fish Oil, and Vitamin C for other reasons. I noticed as I got older (66) I bruised easier or got cuts and scrapes easier than when I was younger.

I have noticed after I started the fish oil that problem has gotten better. Not as many bruises right under the skin. So when I read your article and fish oil was mentioned it reminded me of the change since I started taking it.

I personally now that supplements to work to help you skin even at my age.

I know as I am aging they also need a bit of help. I have been taking vitamin D supplements for quite some time. I think I need to add to it. A quick question because I see a lot of talk about the omega 3. Can you get too much? I Introduced foods rich in omega 3 about a year ago to improve my diet. I consume salmon, chia seeds, flax, and walnuts frequently in my diet to get a natural source. If I introduce a supplement that contains it as well, is there a line of too much? Thank you for your help!

    • Hi Christina, For those taking aspirin or blood-thinning medications, they should limit their dose of omega-3 fatty acids. Some health organizations recommend a daily dosage of 250 to 500 milligrams of EPA and DHA for healthy adults. Lisa
